Weyerhaeuser’s Radiant Barrier SheathingMaterial, usually plywood or oriented strand board (OSB), but sometimes wooden boards, installed on the exterior of wall studs, rafters, or roof trusses; siding or roofing installed on the sheathing—sometimes over strapping to create a rainscreen. (RBS) is an OSB roof sheathing with a radiant-foil overlay to minimize radiant heat gainIncrease in the amount of heat in a space, including heat transferred from outside (in the form of solar radiation) and heat generated within by people, lights, mechanical systems, and other sources. See heat loss.. This sheathing is typically placed under the outer layer of wood and shingles on a roof. Similar to most sheathing products, RBS uses low-emitting phenol formaldehydeChemical found in many building products; most binders used for manufactured wood products are formaldehyde compounds. Reclassified by the United Nations International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in 2004 as a “known human carcinogen." resins. RBS comes in 4'x8' sheets and is available in 7/16", 15/32", and 19/32" thicknesses.
